Yun Samean interviews MP Son Chhay regarding the arrest of officials working with Chea Xim:
Additional report by Kher Sonorng regarding the arrest of Pheng Kunthea Borey:
On Friday 30 September, SRP MP Son Chhay demanded that the government put an end to the position of “advisor to the government leader” because it is fraught with crime.
Son Chhay request came after the authority arrested Pheng Kunthea Borey, the protocol and international relation chief of Senate president Cheam Xim, for serious fraud that affects the nation’s leader. Chea Xim is also the CPP party president.
Son Chhay added that, currently, the title of “advisors” and “oknhas” are provided or sold to businessmen who use these titles for illegal trade.
An official at Chea Xim’s office claimed that the recent arrest and jailing of high ranking officials involved with the senate was done according to the law and was not involved with politics. The same official added that a number of irregular documents were uncovered, such as false public documents and fake documents bearing the name of Chea Xim used for illicit trade.
Up to now, 5 high ranking officials close to Chea Xim were arrested for their involvement in using the name of a government leader and for falsifying documents.
