The US government has alerted its citizens of the possibility of retaliation for the killing of a US-born al-Qaeda leader, Anwar al-Awlaki.
The State Department issued a travel advisory on Saturday, saying Awlaki's death could provide motivation for attacks worldwide from individuals or groups against the United States and its citizens.
The US announced on Friday that it killed Awlaki jointly with the Yemeni government. He belonged to the group called al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, based in Yemen.
He was allegedly involved in various terrorist plots against the US.
The State Department says there is no specific information on potential attacks on US citizens so far.
