French President Nicolas Sarkozy has said that Europe should continue supporting Greece in its effort to eliminate its debt troubles.
Sarkozy and Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou met in Paris on Friday and talked about support for the debt-ridden country.
After the meeting, the French president emphasized to reporters the need for Eurozone countries to be united in continuing support for Greece.
He welcomed the result of Germany's parliamentary vote on Thursday that approved new powers for the eurozone's 590-billion dollar bailout fund.
He said he will meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Germany in a few days to discuss details of a new Franco-German approach to solving Europe's debt crisis.
Papandreou pledged to carry out the restructuring effort.
Some in the markets, however, are worried about the risk of default. Sarkozy apparently wants to alleviate anxiety within the markets.
